Scheduled for the period from 03. 11th, the European Weightlifting Championships will take place in the Russian capital Moscow. After a long time, marked by cancellations and postponements, finally a glimmer of hope.
Due to this, the German national team is currently in Herzogenhorn for the final preparaion. Even a test competition in the run-up to the European Championships, which will take place in Speyer, was organized at short notice. This way, the athletes are able to test their peformance under competition conditions and overcome possible insecurities caused by the long break.
The squad for the European Weightlifting Championship 2021 has already been announced.
Nominated are:
- -64kg Lisa Marie Schweizer & Sabine Kusterer
- -76kg Patricia Rieger
- -81kg Nina Schroth
- -61kg Jon Luke Mau & Simon Brandhuber
- -73kg Max Lang
- -81kg Nico Müller
- -96kg Jürgen Spieß
Matthäus Hofmann (-109kg) still has the chance to win the European Championship ticket on 03/20.
The athletes are for the most part in a positive mood. Max Lang is looking forward to the European Championship, but also emphasizes that “it’s still a strange feeling because of the current situation”.
In addition to the German team, international athletes from our Weightlifting Shop team will also be competing. Especially the Italians Nino Pizzolato and Mirko Zanni, as well as the Spaniard David Sanchez hope for medals.
We will keep you up to date and will, of course, report from the European Championship.
